About the Author

Iwan 'e1' Rahabok

Iwan 'e1' Rahabok was the first VMware SE for strategic accounts in ASEAN. Joining VMware in 2008 from Sun Microsystems, he has seen how enterprises adopt virtualization firsthand, reaping the benefits while overcoming the challenges. It is a journey that is still going on and the book reflects a subset of that undertaking. Globally, he was one of the first to achieve the VCAP-DCD certification and has since helped others to achieve the same with the help of his participation in the community. He started the user community in ASEAN, and today the group is one of the largest VMware communities on Facebook. He is a member of VMware CTO Ambassadors, representing ASEAN region at the global level and the product team and CTO office to the ASEAN customers. He is a vExpert 2013 and vExpert 2014 and has been helping others to achieve this global recognition for their contribution to the VMware community. He graduated from Bond University, Australia, with a degree in IT in 1994.

Recommended for diverse roles in the SDDC

The book excels the treatment of topics for a diverse audience, discussing topics from the fundamental differences between the physical and virtual data center physical (as a CxO would understand it) to the deep-dive into a subject whose documentation has been remarkably little in the past : vROPs metrics definitios and its relationship with vCenter. So a comprehensive approach that focuses on important and often overlooked issues, makes the book a valuable resource.
As if the contributions mentioned were not enough, Iwan Rahabok adds a chapter on a topic that is usually treated very operatively but has lacked the component of planning and design: creating vROPs custom dashboards that, altough implies require Advanced or Enterprise Licensing, is a feature that definitely exploits a lot of the vROPs potential for preventive monitoring and visualization of key indicators of the virtual data center.

Awesome vSphere Performance Analysis Deep Dive for vCenter and vROps but no Super Metric formulas.

This is a great starter book for anyone who wants to take a deep dive into performance analysis in vSphere environments. It explains the various nuances of performance in great detail and provides a lot of useful examples to help the reader understand virtualization specific concepts. I enjoyed the comparisons the author provides on what metrics you get from vCenter versus vROps, how they differ, and what to pay attention to. The only shortcoming I can see is that the author does not provide the formulas for the Super Metrics he recommends you create in vROps. However, he does go into some Super Metrics and related topics on his blog. Enjoy!

The Book vSphere Pros Have Needed For YEARS

I have been a VMware employee for over seven years, working in the area of Performance and Capacity Management. I can say without reservation this is the book that VMware professionals have been awaiting for years. There is a huge need for clarity with these issues, in addition to many misconceptions and confusion. Iwan has done a great service to clarify these topics. If you are operating vSphere, this is a must read even if you are not using vRealize Operations (or it's predecessor, vCOPs). The principles of managing performance and capacity in virtualized environments alone are worth the purchase price of this book. Well done Iwan!!!

Great book for TCM practitioners

What a wonderful book. Detailed description of syndromes, the herbal and point prescriptions are clear, and the cases are relevant and interesting. Worth every penny. Especially enjoyed the description of the TCM view and the herbal support we can provide in each phase of the cycle in patients undergoing IVF, compatible and supportive of the whole process.

A superb resource!

Really fabulous and thorough book. I see now why this is a critical book in a library for any practitioner working with women and consequently fertility and reproductive health. I especially appreciate the author's detailed explanation of the BBT and charting in general with regards to the various different patterns and how to interpret. Charting is often underestimated by practitioners who lack the proper knowledge base, however, it is an extremely useful tool in terms of diagnosis and to observe changes over time, I hope that this book will provide the impetus for other practitioners to teach and use charting with patients instead of mere reliance on expensive diagnostic procedures

Grade 3-7 - The Robertsons and their daughters, ages 11 and 9 when this book was begun, test-built the 15 safe and fun woodworking projects illustrated here. The first section, "Setting Up Shop: Getting to Know Your Tools," includes a basic introduction to hammering, sawing, drilling, block planing, and measuring. Next, "Down to Business: Building Your Own Projects" puts these tools and techniques to work in simple, yet cleverly designed, kid-friendly projects that increase in complexity. They require competent and willing parents/adults who will work beside, guide, and help youngsters learn woodworking skills by completing the suggested projects, such as bird houses, a tool box, a cricket cage, and a stool. Clear instructions, black-and-white photos, and cutting diagrams are included for each one. The amount of detail provided increases as needed. Adults are advised to take over on dangerous, repetitive, or boring steps. Emphasis throughout is on helping the kids have fun. Some vocabulary is introduced in context, but the lack of a glossary rankled in some instances in which words were mentioned, then not illustrated until pages, or even chapters, later. Of necessity for a book of this type, matters are simplified: in the discussion of hammers, for example, there is no mention of varying claw types, head designs, variously weighted heads, or handle materials. Good starter book

Bought this as a Christmas present for a young nephew. I read through it before wrapping and sending and it's a great little book for anyone wanting to get into small building projects. To be honest, I actually bought it again to have a copy for myself since it explains how to cut angles, how to use the tools etc. I'm a female who is a little intimidated by power tools, but I'd like to build a planter box based on instructions in the book.

Scott Sonnon overcame dyslexia so severe that he was hospitalized in a children's psychiatric institution for his "disruptive classroom behavior." Despite being advised that he should not set his expectations very high, he went on to become a five-time world martial arts champion, award-winning producer, prolific author, patent-holding inventor and fitness industry magnate with his books, DVDs and equipment now available in 68 countries worldwide. Ironically, Scott became a keynote speaker for the genius organization Mensa, and his acclaimed TEDx talk challenges the notion of "learning disabilities" through the creative genius of alternative learning styles. Using his "unique neurological wiring" to create innovative health programs, he was named one of the Top 25 Trainers in the world by Men's Fitness Magazine, "World's Smartest Workout" creator by Men's Health Magazine, and one of the seven most influential martial art teachers of the 21st century by Black Belt Magazine. Scott was named an adjunct instructor for the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and lecturer for the State and Local Law Enforcement Training Symposium. His training systems have been used by more than 50,000 federal agents through the US Customs and Border Protection Advanced Training Center and the US Marshals Service Academy. Scott has been a featured speaker at the Arnold Schwarzenegger Sports Festival, the National Strength Conditioning Association and many more. Scott has now taken his success in martial art, fitness and yoga off the mats and into the classrooms, as an international speaker. Well Written Autobiography in a Novel Format.

I have become friends with Scott Sonnon over the last fours years that he has written this book. His writing has improved dramatically in that time through this daily ritual of writing about his past, examining through the lens of the great philosophers and searching for the lessons and self-improvement in his current days. As I read his daily postings on Facebook that were the genesis of this book, I slowly adopted a similar mindset of examining my own life through this lens of re-framing life's circumstances into "this is exactly what I need to adapt and improve". It proves to be a very successful formula, even just reading Scott's stories written in this manner, let alone copying the formula by writing your own story in this manner. The key lesson in Scott's story is that you do not need to escape your past, but to re-cast it as the crucible for your current transformation and that we all have inherent worth and genius that just needs to be released from our fears and doubts. The short stories are inspiring, heartbreaking, and humorous at times. If you like stories of the underdog starting in last place who becomes a champion, wins the girl, and lives happily ever after, get this book. It only takes Scott several decades to get there, but you can read about in the remaining days of this summer! I started following Scott Sonnon in 2010 on my way to a year combat tour in Afghanistan. His coaching, his writing, and his TACFIT fitness program transformed me from a bitter, out of shape middle aged Army officer into a much better and healthier version of myself. Even if you are not struggling with dyslexia or life's adversities, this is still a good book for expanding your view of those people you know who may be. I know that as a parent of four boys, these stories and the lessons embedded within, have helped me be more present and intentional as a father. I highly recommend this book and have thoroughly enjoyed the short story format.

Excellent "Real Life" audiograms

It is difficult to get excited about workbooks and textbooks, especially in the field of audiology. Sharon Hepfner has provided a workbook full of real audiograms done on real people that maybe we should call "Reality Learning." Students of medicine and audiology, as well as those early in their careers, will gain a tremendous understanding by going through this workbook. I suggest you read through each section before completing the Evaluations. The book is divided into 6 sections (SNHL, CHL, Mixed, Normal, Nonorganic, and Practice Audiograms) and begins with an overview of testing instructions for various testing procedures as well as patient conditions and circumstances that require test modification. This workbook is worth its weight in gold.

Great book! Very informative. I'm a visual learner and this book showed me a ton of examples. It made studying so much easier!
